Which Card to Use at Walmart Now
For nearly five years, Capital One was Walmart cards exclusive card issuer, offering the Capital One Walmart Rewards Card and Walmart Rewards Card. But that partnership recently ended. Currently, Walmart does not issue co-branded credit cards through any other issuer.
While you can’t apply for a new Walmart card with Capital One anymore, nothing has changed for current cardholders. If you have the Capital One Walmart Rewards Card or Walmart Rewards Card, you can still use your card to make purchases, earn and redeem rewards.
However, if you’re just considering applying for a card to earn rewards on Walmart purchases, you might want to consider an alternative cash back credit card that offers flat-rate earnings or rotating bonus categories.
Discover it® Cash Back* is a cash back card with rotating quarterly bonus categories that earns 5% cash back on everyday purchases at different places you shop each quarter, like grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, and more, sometimes including Walmart, up to the quarterly maximum when you activate. There’s no annual fee, plus you can get a cash back match at the end of your first year as a new cardholder. You can also take advantage of a 0% intro APR for 15 months on purchases, followed by a go-to Variable APR.
Chase Freedom Flex Card* is another great option for Walmart shoppers because it offers quarterly rotating bonus categories, which have included 5% cash back on up to $1,500 at Walmart in the past. You can earn a $200 bonus after spending $500 within the first three months, and there’s a 15-month 0% introductory annual percentage rate on purchases and balance transfers, all with no annual fee.
The Avant Cash Back Rewards Card is a relatively new player in the credit card market, but it has already gained popularity due to a number of benefits and rewards that make it an attractive option for those who have a fair credit history and want to earn cashback on their purchases. With its 1% cashback rewards, 0% intro APR, and no foreign transaction fees, the Avant Credit Card is an attractive option for anyone looking to earn cashback on their purchases.
If you want simple, unlimited rewards, without merchant categories to remember or quarterly rewards category signups, the Upgrade Cash Rewards Visa® is another good option. The Upgrade Cash Rewards Visa earns a flat 1.5% cash back on purchases every time you make a payment. Plus, combining features of a credit card and a personal loan, it offers a relatively high credit limit up to $25,000. The repayment process is a bit different from how most credit cards work, but it can be a decent product for people with lower credit scores or for anyone who needs to finance a large purchase.
