Say Goodbye to Citi’s Perks
Some serious changes are in store for many Citi credit cards like the Citi Prestige Card, the Citi Premier Card, the Citi Double Cash Card, the Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi, the American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp℠ Card, and some other. The updates imply elimination of some consumer and travel benefits.
The bank’s official response to the situation is as follows: “Citi continuously evaluates our products to ensure that associated benefits best meet the needs of our customers. Due to sustained low usage, we will no longer offer select credit card benefits such as Citi Price Rewind and Trip Cancellation & Interruption Protection as of September 22, 2019, so that we can continue providing key benefits our customers use and value most at no additional cost.”
As we can see, such advantages as Citi Price Rewind and Trip Cancellation & Interruption Protection will totally disappear on September 22, 2019. The only Citi cash back credit card that should stay safe is the Costco Anywhere Visa® Business Card by Citi.
Some more benefits will be taken away as well, but it will affect only certain credit cards. Check the list below:
- Worldwide Travel Accident Insurance,
- Worldwide Car Rental Insurance,
- Trip Delay Protection,
- Baggage Delay Protection,
- Lost Baggage Protection,
- Medical Evacuation,
- 90 Day Return Protection,
- Missed Event Ticket Protection,
- Roadside Assistance Dispatch Service,
- Travel & Emergency Assistance.
Still, most of our favorite benefits and extra services will keep holding. Citi® Concierge, Citi EntertainmentSM, Travel Notice, Citi® Identity Theft Solutions, and FICO Credit Score are among those.
There are two more months ahead before these upcoming changes, but to be ready, get prepared in advance. Now it is already possible to find out information on which benefits exactly are going to leave your card. If you just log in to your Citi online account on the bank’s website, you will be shown a notification containing the whole list. Besides, you can always review your Guide to Protection Benefits, read FAQs considering this topic or call Citi Customer Service for more details.
