Black Friday 2020: Ready, Set, Shop

2020 can be safely called the weirdest year of the last decade. The pandemic has affected every corner of the world. And we can only guess what surprises await us in the last month of the year. However, something still remains the same (or almost the same) – Black Friday.
It is not hard to guess that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the biggest and most long-awaited sale day in most stores will be held online. And there are obvious advantages here. Just think, no running around the store in a bustle, no snatching things from the hands of “rivals”, no standing in giant lines at the fitting room and checkout… Stay at home and calmly buy the desired items online.
This year, the event officially falls on November 27th. However, the first discounts are already available now or will be at the beginning of the next week. Thus, for credit cardholders, the question of earning rewards on purchases is more relevant than ever. And some issuers are ready to give a good answer to this question.
So, for example, Citi does not stand aside and offers its customers to earn 5% cash back on purchases made online with their eligible credit card from November 24 to November 30. The earned bonus is supposed to be posted as a statement credit(s) to the participant’s account in 1-2 billing cycles. The maximum amount that one may get in cash back to a single Citi account is $25. Not a bad complement to the Black Friday discounts.
To take advantage of the deal, you need to meet the following requirements:
- You should have a Citi consumer/small business credit card (corporate, professional, debit, retail cards, as well as authorized users of the Costco Anywhere Visa® consumer/small business cards and CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select card do not participate);
- Your account must be open and in good standing, with no declared bankruptcy in the past 7 days prior to enrollment;
- You should enroll online at the special Citi website section or before November 30.
Good news: you can get the reward on each eligible Citi card that you own after you enroll it.
Bad news: purchases made through mobile/wireless technology may not earn the bonus.
