If you were turned down for a new credit card, it's probably a sign that your credit score isn't great. But don't despair. There are things you can do to improve your credit score. The first thing you should do is take a look at your credit report. You can order a copy for free, from each of the three major credit bureaus and from FICO. Make sure there aren't any mistakes on the report; if there are, write or call to have them corrected. Next, pay off any outstanding debts you may have, or make a paydown plan if you can't afford to pay it all off immediately. Keep all your accounts open and in good standing, if possible, so that your credit history will be longer. If you don't have a...

When you filled out your QVC credit card application, it would have been wise to check the interest rate so you knew what your APR would be before you applied. However, since you didn't realize what the cost would be when you didn't pay off your account in full, the only thing to do now is to go forward knowing not to do that in the future. The best way to pay off your high-APR debt quickly is to consider applying for a balance transfer card that offers a zero interest promotional period, during which time you can chip away at your debt without paying any extra. The only downside to doing a balance transfer is that there's often a fee; this fee is generally less than 5% of the balance...

If the card you are using isn't paying off quite the way you'd hoped, in terms of discounts and rewards, there are plenty of other rewards credit cards to choose from. Look for one that offers special savings on groceries all year long, rather than a card that gives 5% back only in certain categories that change each quarter. These cards are a good value, and worth having, but if you are really looking for savings on groceries, try a card that's dedicated to saving you money in that particular category. Other things to look for include a low APR, no annual fee, and easy reward redemption. Being able to choose between a statement credit, a gift card to your favorite store, or frequent flyer...

They also offer a Visa card by Citibank. This card offers the same Best Buy rewards as the store card but can also be used outside of the store and offers 1% back on most other purchases. This card also offers 2% back on dining out and groceries. Keep in mind that you do not need to have either credit card to reap rewards. By simply being a member of their store loyalty program you can get one point per dollar spent. This is probably their most valuable card of all. A $500 purchase would earn 1,250 points which would have a reward certificate value of $25 dollars. By being an elite Plus member of the My Best Buy loyalty program you can increase your reward earning by 1% which translates to...

It's understandable that you might want a store credit card to buy things online from your favorite shop, but you can actually use any major credit card when you're shopping online. Just make sure that your card has a chip, not just a stripe, so that your payment information will stay secure. Chip cards are more popular in Europe, Asia, Canada and Mexico than they are in the US, and both customers and merchants have needed some time to adapt to their use. But for online purchases, it's very much worthwhile to make sure your card has a chip. Also, when you're shopping online, be very sure you're visiting the official site, and that they have an up-to-date security certificate. It's really...

When applying you will be asked to decide which promotion you are interested in. You can either get a 5% discount or special financing for twelve months on a purchase of $299 or more. You can not get both. Also, the everyday discount is not an ongoing discount. The 5% savings is only on the initial purchase when you apply for the card. When doing a home renovation, it is highly doubtful that you would make all the purchases you need at one time. Also the card has a 24.99% APR which is relatively high. If you did not pay the balance in full right away the high APR would quickly negate any discounts. Therefore, I would say it is better to use a traditional credit card that gets rewards. Many...

The Best Buy member rewards program called Reward Zone is still active in Canada. However, in the states Reward Zone has become My Best Buy. If you are or were a Reward Zone member living in the U.S., you automatically were enrolled in My Best Buy when the transition was made. Your account information, points accrued and any award certificates are already on your account. Whatever points you had will still be there. You do not need to redeem them because award certificates are automatically issued. When you accrue 250 points you will receive a $5 certificate. If you have more than $250 in points and have not received a certificate you should log on or create a bestbuy.com account to check...
