American Express To Open Centurion Lounge At Denver International Airport
Good news for American Express Platinum cardholders who live or travel in the Denver area: American Express has just announced plans to add a Centurion lounge to the Denver International Airport (DIA). And it will be huge—over 14,000 square feet—making it the second-largest Centurion lounge location.
Josh McKay, vice president and general manage of global benefits and services at American Express, said the Centurion lounges are among the most popular benefits from Platinum card members. “Our card members’ global lounge visits [increase] 30 percent year over year. We are thrilled to share our plans to bring one of our signature Centurion Lounges to the Denver International Airport, as Denver is one of the top airports our premium card members travel through,” said McKay. “In just the past year we’ve seen a 36 percent increase in air travel through Denver among U.S. premium card members booking through American Express Travel.”
Views, amenities, and unique design
DIA’s Centurion lounge will offer travelers the usual American Express premium amenities, including complimentary food and beverages from world-famous chefs and mixologists, a room for families to relax and unwind, fully-equipped restrooms with shower suites, quiet workspaces, high speed Wi-Fi, newspapers and magazines, and more. It will also give sweeping views of the airfield, and be designed with unique details specially chosen for its location near the Rocky Mountains. DIA is the fifth largest airport in the United States, and passenger traffic has grown by more than 12 percent over the past two years.
Other Centurion lounges are located at New York’s LaGuardia airport, Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth, San Francisco, Miami International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Houston, Hong Kong, and Philadelphia. Another Centurion lounge is forthcoming at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City in 2019. The new Centurion lounge at DIA is slated to open sometime in 2019.
Exclusive access for American Express cardmembers
Platinum cardholders and Centurion card members are able to access American Express Centurion lounges at no charge. Platinum cardholders can bring up to two travel companions, and Centurion Members can bring their immediate family, or two travel companions. Extra guest passes may be purchases for $50 per person, but only Platinum cardholders or Centurion members can buy them.
