Best Credit Cards FAQS

When it comes to deciding which credit card is the best one to apply for, the answer would usually be subjective. The Evolve Federal Credit Union currently offers several credit card options (10 in total I believe), that are all made to meet the specific needs of different people. To tell you which credit card would be the best for you to apply for, I would need to know your exact spending patterns. If you were simply looking for my opinion, I would always recommend applying for a card that offers rewards. Although 4 of the Evolve credit cards offer rewards, I would personally recommend applying for a general rewards card offered by a bank. These cards generally allow you to earn points...

As a rule, credit limit is based on your creditworthiness and income. Banks also look at your credit score in order to determine what credit limit to award you. In some cases, a particular card will not offer a high credit limit to anyone, no matter how high their credit is. Store credit cards have this tendency and do not come with high limits. When you need a credit card with a high limit, it would be better to choose a regular, unsecured credit card – not a store credit card. Not only regular cards come with higher limits, but also allow credit limit increases. Just manage your credit account responsibly and you can qualify for a credit limit increase.

When you get a store credit card, it's always smart to look carefully at the terms and conditions to see where you can use it. It's best to do this before you get the card and not after. Take a look at payment network, as well as APRs and fees. The Academy credit card is a Visa credit card which means it will be accepted everywhere Visa cards are accepted. So, you will be able to buy groceries, or pay at restaurants for your dinner. As for interest rates, your APR for purchases can be as high as 23.74% and APR for cash advances will be 24.49%. Annual fee can be up to $29, depending on the type of the account you get. Cash advance fee is pretty standard – 3% or $10 minimum,...

Actually, you can use any credit card that has Visa, Mastercard, or American Express logo on it. So, it can be any regular credit card issued by a major bank. Just make sure the card you are applying has a chip, not just a stripe, so that your payment information will stay secure. It is very much worthwhile to make sure your card has a chip when you are shopping online. As for interest rates, store credit cards are known for high interest rates. When you apply for a regular credit card, your interest rate usually depends on your creditworthiness, so it may be significantly lower when you have good credit history.

It can be very tempting to apply for store credit cards. When you're checking out with your purchases, the clerk will usually ask whether you want to save 10-15% by opening an account right there on the spot. Then you have to quickly decide whether it's a good time to apply for a new line of credit at the moment. Some things to consider include: what's my credit score like these days? A poor credit score could mean you won't even qualify for the card. On the other hand, a good credit score means you might be able to save some money on your purchase. Also, think about how many new lines of credit you've applied for lately. Too much new credit in too short a time period can look bad on your...

As a general rule, your credit limit is based on your creditworthiness; credit issuers look at your credit score in order to determine what credit limit to award you. In some cases, a particular card will not offer a high credit limit to anyone, no matter how high their credit. Store credit cards tend to be this way, with a limit to the amount of credit they award. If you'd like a credit card with a high limit, you should consider applying for a standard, unsecured credit card – not a store card. But first, check your credit report to see if your credit stands up to scrutiny. Having good credit will make a big difference in how much credit you're given. The best way to achieve a high...

You can fill out a BJ's application in-store, online, or by phone. However, you must already have a membership at the time of your application and you must be a primary member at the time of your application. A primary member is the person who bought the initial membership and is the main user of the card. They also issue membership cards for additional household members, but a household member cannot apply for the card. You must also be at least 18, have a government issued photo ID, and a Social Security number. If you are not yet a member, but want to experience the store before applying, you can consider a one-day shopping pass. You can get this in the store by visiting the member...
