With the Toys "R" Us credit card you'll get 2 points per dollar for the brand purchases and 1 point per 4 dollars for all other purchases. However, it gets more interesting when you find out the redemption rate. It is very profitable for the brand purchases and very unprofitable for all other purchases. Your 125 points are worth $5, which gives you 4 cents per dollar, a very good rate. However, 1 point per 4 dollars for all purchases devalues this rate, as you get the same 1 point per dollar as everywhere. It also depends on which card you want to apply for. The Mastercard version can be used anywhere and the store card can only be used at the store. If you don't shop at Toys R Us frequently, then the card is of no use, and regular rewards cards will have more value. They usually offer better rewards rate and the rewards never expire.
All rates and fees, and other terms and conditions of the products mentioned in this article/post are actual as of the last update date but are subject to change. See the current products' Terms & Conditions on the issuing banks' websites.

Valero has a tiered rebates system. You earn 4¢ per gallon on every gallon purchased when you purchase at least 50 gallons per billing cycle or earn 8¢ per gallon on every gallon purchased when you purchase at least 75 gallons per billing cycle (up to a maximum of 110 gallons). Gas rebates will automatically appear on your monthly billing statement. For more traditional and easy to understand reward options, see general rewards credit cards and especially cash back cards. Those give you simple cash back every time you purchase anything anywhere and rewards are also redeemable everywhere.
