I have a good credit score, yet I have been turned down by Citi and Discover. I need a credit card until I get my first paycheck in my new job. What do I have to do to get approved?

You write that you have a new job. That could have your credit application denied. Credit card issuers prefer applicants who have a stable job. If you’ve been job-hopping and have periods of unemployment, it may be hard for you to get approved. Also, check your credit score. Make sure it is still good, because last attempts to get a credit card could affect it.
Try a lower level credit card, for example you can consider credit cards for fair credit. These cards have a bit higher regular APRs. However, most fair credit cards have a 0% introductory period on purchases, and bonus rewards programs.
