Bad Credit Cards FAQS

With a poor credit history, there's not much of a choice for you, but you still have some options. There's no guarantee that a Meijer co-branded credit card will be approved for you. Besides, one of your goals would be to build credit to be able to apply for more better cards. So, you should first move towards the credit cards for bad credit. If your credit score is very low, apply for a secured card that requires a deposit mostly equal to your credit line. General cards are accepted anywhere and report to major credit bureaus, so if you don;t have any balance, you'll improve your credit score.

While this may sound like a rational decision, it is not. Co-branded credit cards, like the SuperAmerica credit card, are not the best choice for building credit, they are simply not meant for that. They are limited in use - you wil most likely be able to use a card only for one brand purchases - which won't be much help in credit building. Moreover, if you have limited credit, there's no guarantee you'll be approved for a SuperAmerica credit card at all. A better option would be to apply for special cards for building credit - it's much more likely that you'll be approved and they report to all three major bureaus. besides, they can be used anywhere, not only for SuperAmerica purchases.

You may apply for a secured card, which will allow you to have a line of credit equal to the deposit you pay. Naturally, you'll be able to pay with it at the Sinclair gas stations. If you have troubles with that, you may try getting a personal loan. Those are easier to get. If you pay off the debt on time, you'll become eligible for unsecured cards.
