I was thinking of applying for a credit card at my local Lowes store. What kind of credit score do I need to be approved?

When applying for a store card you do not need excellent credit, but do not apply if you have bad credit. A bad credit score is anything below 580. In general, it is likely you will be approved if you have a good credit score of 680 or above. If you have a fair credit score between 620-679 there is no guarantee of approval. Store cards tend to be somewhat more lenient than some of the traditional cards. However, if your credit is not in good or better shape it is probably not a good idea to take a chance on an application. When you apply for a credit card the bank will most likely do a hard pull on your credit which will lower it a bit more. So if your credit is not good take measures to improve it before taking a chance on being turned down.
